Notary Public services are often requested by private clients in Cardiff, Penarth, Barry, Newport, Bridgend and surrounding areas.
Notary Public services for private clients cover a wide range of documents that require authentication and notarisation for use in foreign countries or other legal purposes. Some of the common types of documents I, as a Notary Public, can assist my private clients with include:
1. Powers of Attorney: Notarising powers of attorney grants legal authority to someone to act on behalf of the client in specific matters, often required for international transactions or when clients are unable to be physically present.
2. Certified Copies: Notaries can certify copies of original documents, such as academic degree certificates, passports, ID cards, driver’s licence, DBS police check certificates, medical letters and other documents, making them legally valid for use abroad.
3. Consent Letters: When a child is traveling internationally alone or with one of the parents, a notarised consent letter may be required to show permission from the absent parent(s).
4. Witnessing Signatures: Notaries can witness the signing of important legal documents, adding credibility to the authenticity of the signatures.
5. Legalisation by Apostille: If documents need to be used in countries that are party to the Hague Apostille Convention or require further authentication, the Notary can assist with Apostille legalisation process. The document may need to be submitted to the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) for further verification and authentication. They will verify my, as the Notary Public's seal and signature to confirm its authenticity. In cases of UK issued marriage, birth, death, ACRO certificates, the Apostille is usually required to verify the official’s, who signed the documents (e.g. registrar), signature. I work with legalisation agents in London and Milton Keynes for premium/fast Apostille legalisation service. The legalised documents can be returned to you directly in the UK or by courier in most countries worldwide. Delivery charges will be advised to you with my quote or as soon as possible. For Apostille legalisation I will need to receive the original documents from you by post or you can drop them off in my office in Penarth near Cardiff.
6. Consular Legalisation: If the document is intended for use in a country not part of the Hague Apostille Convention, a further legalisation by the Consulate or an Embassy of that country is usually required. As a Notary Public, I can guide you through the consular legalisation process, please contact me to discuss your requirements.
7. Affidavits: Affidavits are written statements made under oath or affirmation, which may be required for various legal proceedings or when providing evidence in a foreign jurisdiction.
8. Statutory Declarations: Similar to affidavits, statutory declarations are written statements made under oath, but they are typically used for non-contentious matters and can be used in place of sworn affidavits in certain situations.
9. Property Transactions: Notaries may notarise documents related to property transactions, especially when dealing with foreign property in Spain, France, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Poland, USA or other countries worldwide as buyers/sellers.
10. International Business Transactions: For businesses engaged in international trade or commercial agreements, notarised documents may be necessary for various purposes.
11. Name Change Deeds: Notaries can notarise name change deeds, which are often required for individuals changing their legal name.
12. Application Forms and Declarations: Some foreign jurisdictions may require notarized application forms or declarations for student visas, work permits, or immigration purposes.
13. Marriage Documents: In certain cases, documents related to marriage, such as affidavits of single status, may need notarisation by a Notary Public for use abroad.
14. Handling Foreign Language Documents: Notaries may encounter documents in foreign languages. My working languages are Lithuanian, English and Russian, I also read and write in Spanish, therefore I will be able to assist you if the documents are in one of these languages. For other languages I may need to work with translators to understand the content fully. The translation services will be charged additionally and I will notify you of the total cost in due course.
It's important to note that the specific requirements for notarisation may vary depending on the country where the document will be used.
